24-year-old Belco employee $1,000 and got him taken off the road for three years yesterday.

Dennis Pimental, of Lamas Close, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to speeding at 103 kilometres along South Road in Paget.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said the incident occurred around 3.22 a.m. on August 13 along a stretch running from Botanical Gardens to Collector's Hill.

Sgt. Mouchette added that Pimental was convicted of speeding at 62 kph in February of 1994.

Pimental's lawyer Mr. Juan Wolffe produced a letter from Belco stating that Pimental's duties included driving vans and cranes for the company.

Mr. Wolffe asked that Pimental be allowed to operate those vehicles as well as ride a bike so that he could get to work when called out for emergency operations.

Before sentencing him Magistrate Edward King told Pimental he "must pay the maximum fine for a second offence''.

In addition to fining him Mr. King also disqualified Pimental from all vehicles for three years, except light and medium vans and cranes owned by Belco.
