Jermaine DeSilva of Lusher Hill, Warwick pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to assaulting his girlfriend of three years, 16-year-old Loutiqua Phillips at her Pembroke residence on March 23.

He also admitted unlawfully destroying her clothing.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said DeSilva kneed Phillips in her left leg causing her to fall after an argument between the pair escalated.

When Phillips attempted to escape to the bedroom, DeSilva grabbed her and smashed her head against the wall. He then punched her in the face and tore off her T-shirt.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis adjourned the matter for sentencing on July 19 pending the outcome of the social inquiry report.
