metal baseball bat appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Chinua Durham, 17, of Cut Road, St. George's, pleaded guilty to using offensive words, having a dangerous weapon -- a baseball bat -- in a public place and having no auxiliary cycle licence.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said Police saw Durham riding around King's Square in St. George's on July 30, wielding a baseball bat and threatening to hurt someone.
When the officers asked why he was riding around with the bat he told them it was for his protection.
Sgt. Osborne said Police also discovered that Durham did not hold a valid licence.
Acting Senior Magistrate Cheryl Ann Mapp fined Durham a total of $300 -- $100 for each offence -- and ordered that the bat be confiscated.
