Lawyer Julian Hall -- who represents Dr. George Bertram McPhee -- said he would be setting up a meeting with Dr. Terceira.

"I hope I can get good sense to prevail,'' he said.

Dr. McPhee was the physician-in-charge of the extended care unit at King Edward VII and consultant geriatrician to Government until his 70th birthday last June.

He then lost his privilege of admitting patients to hospital -- sparking a protest petition by Bermudians who claimed he was a victim of age discrimination.

Dr. McPhee said he was in good mental and physical health, and fully capable of continuing his work.

The hospital, however, has rejected the age discrimination allegation, saying mandatory retirement policies were commonplace in Bermuda.

Mr. Hall has argued for Dr. McPhee's hospital privileges to be restored.

Yesterday he said he would be meeting Dr. McPhee today to discuss their next move.

"I want to arrange a meeting with the Minister to see if I can encourage good sense.'' Dr. Terceira was moved from the back benches to the Health and Social Services Ministry in yesterday's Cabinet reshuffle.
