The Tourism Department -- in search of more competitive rates -- is moving its maps and guides production account to a new advertising agency.
Aardvark Advertising has held the six-figure account for seven years, designing and having printed locally and abroad "Where to Stay'', "What to Do'', "Sportsman's Guide'', "Tourist Map'', November to March brochures and all other major collateral materials.
Tourism Minister the Hon. C.V. (Jim) Woolridge, confirming the above work had been put out to tender, said advertising and promotional materials accounts were constantly under review.
He had no dissatisfaction with Aardvark's work.
The Department used the services of a number of local and some overseas advertising agencies to produce its collateral materials, he pointed out.
"We are always looking to get the best price because we are dealing with the taxpayer's money,'' he said.
Aardvark managing director Mr. Colin (Dusty) Hind said the agency planned to put in a new bid for the work.
Mr. Hind added he understood the Department's need to ensure it got the most competitive prices.
Aardvark's current billings are in excess of $3 million.
