Police saw Barrett, of Westmount Lane, Warwick, driving along Spice Hill Road in "an erratic manner'' just after 1 a.m. on May 30.

As Barrett, who works at Johnson and Higgins, Marsh and McLennan insurance company, went to take a right turn on Westmount Lane, officers saw him fall off his bike.

One officer helped him up and asked him if he had been drinking to which Barrett replied: "I had a couple maybe, 6 or 7 at this guy's house.'' It was later discovered Barrett had 186 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol.

Barrett told Senior Magistrate Will Francis: "I am sorry for what I've done.

I've never done anything like this before.'' In other recent impaired driving cases: Southampton Princess employee Rey Durato, 30, was fined $500 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for one year after admitting he drove while impaired.

Durato, who lives in the staff quarters at the Southampton Princess, was stopped on South Shore Road, Warwick on his auxiliary cycle at 1.40 a.m. on June 3 and refused a breathalyser test.

Mark Sweeney, 28, of Harvey Hill Road, Devonshire was fined $400 and told to stay off the road for twelve months after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Sweeney was stopped by Police on June 24 when he ignored a stop sign at the junction of Collector's Hill and South Shore Road in Smith's Parish.

A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of 98 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams in 100 millilitres of blood.
