Three Police officers promoted
The names of three newly promoted Police officers were placed with the wrong photographs in Saturday's newspaper. The photograph of Ch. Insp. Derek Smith was placed over the caption for Sgt. Robin Sherwood, Sgt. Sherwood's picture was placed over Insp. Randolph Liverpool's caption and Insp. Liverpool's picture was placed above the caption for Ch. Insp. Smith.
Three Police officers have been elevated in the latest round of promotions to be announced by the Bermuda Police Service.
St. David's resident Derek Smith, who is also a past chairman of the Bermuda Police Association, has been promoted to Chief Inspector.
He joined the Service in 1970 after five years with the West Yorkshire Constabulary in the United Kingdom.
In Bermuda he has served in the Eastern Division as a Watch Sergeant, as well as the Central Division and Finance and Stores.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 1983 and to Inspector in 1992.
Randolph Liverpool, 42, was promoted to Inspector. He joined the Service from St. Vincent in 1979 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1991. He is a recipient of both the Bermuda Police Merit Award and the Commissioner's Commendation.
Robin Sherwood, 26, has been promoted to Sergeant after starting his Police career as a cadet in 1987. He began his career in 1989 in Western Uniform and has since been active with the Operations Task force, Central Uniform and the Criminal Investigations Department.
Sgt. Sherwood is a recipient of the Bermuda Police Merit Award and the Commissioner of Police has personally commended him for the role he played in the interdiction of a quantity of drugs and the subsequent arrest and conviction of several persons.
