A Police spokesman reported that there were no "significant injuries'' to any of the people involved in the accident which occurred at about 4 p.m.

He said a Suzuki Fronte car was heading east on Middle Road in Southampton when it turned right onto South Road at Barnes' Corner. There it collided with a Mazda saloon which was coming from the opposite direction.

As a result of the impact, continued the spokesman, the Suzuki collided with an Isuzu truck which was coming out of South Road onto Middle Road.

The Fronte sustained considerable damage on its near side but the other vehicles were not too badly damaged, he added.
