Thumper the rabbit has his own toilet!
invention''. The Somerset dwarf rabbit now has its own toilet! Somerset man Mr. Gregory Simons created the novel outhouse because he "couldn't stand cleaning up the `poo' everyday''.
Mr. Simons, who works in the warehouse at SAL, has caused quite a stir among West End residents with his invention.
"I said to myself there has got to be a better way to keep the cage cleaner than this,'' he told The Royal Gazette . With the exactness of a behavioural scientist Mr. Simons kept a watchful eye on Thumper's droppings. "I noticed he went in the same place every time,'' said Mr. Simons.
The next step was simple and brilliant! Mr. Simons placed a chute under Thumper's regular spot which directed the droppings into a bucket. No more messy cleanup for Mr. Simons and a conversation piece for friends and neighbours. The cage is built out of one-inch PVC piping and quarter-inch wire. "It took me a while to draw it out and about 20 hours to actually build it,'' he said.
