Tynes Bay now offering oil disposal
facility has come on-stream.
The Tyne's Bay Waste Treatment facility now has a receptacle for the disposal of auto oil -- adding another site to the eight that already exist at service stations across the Island.
Now, the North Shore site has disposal facilities for most types of rubbish and recyclables. Paint, batteries, cans, bottles, furniture, tyres can all be left. In addition engineers have separated the household and chemical waste sections.
As well as Tynes Bay, many businesses allow the dropping-off of batteries, flourescent tubes, and have Government recycling points on their properties.
Works and Engineering Minister C. V. (Jim) Woolridge thanked those companies for allowing the public to deposit waste.
And twice a year, the public can leave their household hazardous waste at Tynes Bay, before it is shipped to the US.
