Yesterday the Hon. Grant Gibbons (UBP) asked that congratulations be sent to Mr. Hubbard, 20, whom he described as "Bermuda's unsung hero.'' Sen. Terry Lister (PLP) asked that condolences be sent to the family of the late Mr. Damaine Patrick Simmons, 21, who last week became the Island's ninth road traffic fatality.
He said Mr. Simmons' family was still mourning the loss of Miss Zalita Hunt, 18, who was killed after she and her boyfriend Mr. Kioshi Edwards were thrown from their cycle in April.
Mr. Simmons and Miss Hunt were first cousins.
He also congratulated Mr. Colin Blades on his new appointment as Director of Management Services and complimented the organisers of the iron kids triathalon.
He also asked for congratulations to be sent to Dr. Vaughnette Jones who recently graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
And he said the debate team that will represent the Island in New Zealand has been chosen. The members are: Stacey Branum, Edmund Robinson, Rachel Barritt and Chen Foley.
Sen. Lawrence Scott (UBP) sent condolences to the families of Mr. Edward Simons of Somerset and Mr. Warren Mansfield Bascome of St. George's.
He described them as "quiet unassuming men who had an impact on the community and the lives of everyone they touched''.
Sen. Milton Scott (PLP) said he wanted to send condolences to the family of Mrs. Jeanette Burrows.
Sen. Neletha Butterfield (PLP) asked for condolences to be sent to the family of well known musician Mr. George Smith who was a founding member of the Smith trio.
She wanted congratulations to be sent to Robert Roser at Saltus Grammar School who had 34 different after school programmes which were shown to parents.
Sen. Butterfield also congratulated former nurse of the year Mrs. Barbara Wade, who received a Queen's Certificate the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Sen. Yvette Swan (UBP) asked that congratulations should be sent to Mr. Peter Hardy who is the new Financial Secretary.
