US expert to sit on disputes tribunal

Mr. Arnold Zack has been appointed by Labour Minister the Hon. Irving Pearman.
The Trade Disputes Tribunal is set to meet during the first three days of September.
The two other board members will be appointed following talks between Government's labour relations officer Mr. Edwin Wilson and Mr. Pearman.
Last week Mr. Pearman referred the dispute to the tribunal after planned talks between management and the Bermuda Industrial Union failed to get off the ground.
The BIU is fighting for union recognition at the hotel.
Mr. Zack has been a consultant to many governments and organisations, including the United Nations, the International Labour Office, the US Department of Labour and the American Arbitration Association's Centre for Dispute Settlement.
The Harvard University graduate has also been on the panel of the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the Massachusetts Board of Conciliation and Arbitration. He was honoured by the American Arbitration Association in 1980 and 1989 for distinguished work in labour relations.
