Victim recovers from beating

A story in Thursday's newspaper about a man beaten up in a brawl in Docksiders pub failed to state that the information was provided to Police by the alleged victim. The man was in fact attacked by one man, not three as reported to Police and the incident occurred last Thursday, not on Tuesday as stated by the Police.

A Sandys Parish man remains in hospital after a weekend beating that left him unconscious for two days.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the 39-year-old man told Police he was at his home on Saturday evening when two acquaintances arrived and demanded money he owed them.

When the man told the pair he had no money, the pair beat him.

The man claimed the men hit him about his head and body with a large piece of board, knocking him unconscious.

Mrs. James Barnett said the man did not regain consciousness until Monday afternoon.

The man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was detained for observations. He suffered a broken left arm, a blackened right eye, and bumps and swelling to his head.
