The incident occurred on South Road, Smith's around 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A couple, from Richmond, Virginia, were riding near McGall's Hill when another motorcycle rider came alongside and tried to grab a bag from the rear basket.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the female pillion passenger was able to hold on to the bag. But the attacker kicked the livery cycle and caused the rider to lose control and collide with an embankment.

The couple were slightly injured.
