Visitors' numbers show upsurge

Latest figures show 108,241 visitors arrived on these shores during the first four months of the year.
This is 6.3 percent more than those who came over the same period in 1995.
April alone brought 51,598 visitors here -- thanks to a bumper start to this year's cruise season, which kicked off at the end of March.
Some 15,134 cruise ship passengers came in April, bringing the tally for the first four months to 15,251. This is 105.8 percent more than 1995.
Air visitors, however, have slipped 1.6 percent to 92,893 over January-April.
The number flying here from the United States -- the largest source of visitors -- went down 3.3 percent to 69,656.
