Visitors target of verbal tirade
Court yesterday after he admitted swearing at a horse ride guide.
Wendell Proctor, of Church Valley Lane, Sandys, was also fined $250 for the incident.
The court heard that on March 26, a guide for Spicelands Riding Centre and several visitors were on an early morning horseback ride when they stopped at the junction of Tribe Road Number Seven and South Road.
Traffic stopped for them but as they made their way across the road, Proctor, driving a red Toyota car, began to yell: "What are you doing, I'm going to be late for work.'' The angry tirade was laced with expletives.
Proctor told the court he was late for work and the people on the horse ride were "joyriding''.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis asked Proctor where he thought the money that paid his wages came from.
"It comes from people who joyride -- that's who,'' he exclaimed.
He told Proctor that it was important for visitors to be able to joyride when they came to the Island. He said if they could not enjoy themselves while in Bermuda they would then go somewhere else and there would be no money for anyone.
