STITCHES FOR MAN HIT OVER THE HEAD CRM A man who was hit over the head with a bottle received five stitches, but has refused to tell Police who did it.

Around 9 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a North Shore, Devonshire home, where they saw the man bleeding from his head, a Police spokesman said.

They were unable to obtain any information about what had transpired and even the injured man, who went to hospital, declined to make a formal complaint or speak to the Police, the spokesman said.

BOAT SINKS IN HARRINGTON SOUND FIR An alert was sounded on Friday afternoon after a boat sank in Harrington Sound in Smith's Parish.

Firemen were called to the scene at about 3 p.m., but discovered there was no one on board.

"Our assistance was not needed. The boat owner took care of things,'' a Fire Service spokesman said.

MAN GETS STUCK IN RESTAURANT ELEVATOR FIR Firemen were called out after a man got stuck in an elevator at the Bombay Bicycle Club restaurant in Reid Street.

They were alerted at about 2.30 p.m. on Friday. The man was freed after 15 minutes.

A Fire Service spokesman said the cause of the problem was being probed.

EGYPTIAN SHIP DIVERTS TO BERMUDA SEA An Egyptian ship diverted to Bermuda yesterday when one of its crew members was taken ill.

The 9,500 ton roll-on, roll-off Alexandria was on its way from Charleston, South Carolina, when the 50-year-old man became sick.

It diverted to Bermuda where it was met by the Rescue Boat St. David's which took the man ashore and he was transferred to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

FIRE SERVICE HELPS TO FREE YOUNG BOY FIR A five-year-old boy was freed by the Fire Service after trapping his hand into an escalator hand rail.

Firemen were called to the Phoenix Centre, in Hamilton, to use their gear to free the distressed youngster. A spokesman said the boy had lost skin of the palm of his hand and from his fingers. He was taken to hospital and after treatment he was released. The Fire Service were also called to a number of minor household floods caused by the weekend rains.
