Week's supply of cannabis costs visiting couple
passengers a total of $700 yesterday.
Richard Anthony Conceicao, 27, and Susan Maria Correia, 31, both of Massachusetts, were arrested after a search of their cabin on the cruise ship the Norwegian Majesty .
Conceicao and Correia both pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to possession of cannabis.
Crown counsel Lesley Basden said Police, accompanied by Custom officials, searched the cabin at 11 a.m. on August 30 in the absence of the visitors. Ms Basden said 13 cigarettes were discovered and analysed.
They were found to contain 7.51 grammes of cannabis.
Around 6.45 p.m. that same day, narcotic officers went once more to the cabin and saw the visitors who were arrested for possession of a controlled drug.
The court heard that Conceicao and Correia told the officers they brought a week's supply on the cruise with them.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined each one of them $350 or 30 days in prison in default of payment.
