Woman, 25, admits credit card fraud
to five counts of attempted embezzlement.
Wendy Lightbourne, of Alexandra Road, also admitted stealing and fraudulently using a Bank of Bermuda credit card.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told the court that on July 3 Lightbourne attempted to purchase $3,300 worth of goods from Eve's Cycles with a bad cheque from a foreign bank account.
He added that on September 29 Lightbourne stole an EasyLink Visa card which was issued to Sarah Anson from the mail room of BF&M on Pitt's Bay Road, Pembroke.
The next day, Lightbourne used the EasyLink card to go on a "shopping spree'' in Hamilton, Sgt. Taylor said.
By forging Mrs. Anson's signature, Lightbourne purchased two pairs of shoes and a man's shirt from the Connections Boutique, two pairs of Nike sneakers from W.J. Boyle & Son, a Kipling shoulder bag and briefcase from the Harbour Master and various items from the Face & Body Shop.
In total, Lightbourne illegally charged $607.90 to Mrs. Anson's EasyLink account.
When arrested by Police as a result of information received, Lightbourne admitted to the offences and said: "I have mental problems.'' Senior Magistrate Will Francis remanded Lightbourne in custody, pending a psychiatric report which is expected to be completed by November 10 when she will be sentenced.
MAN IN `DRUNKEN STUPOR', COURT HEARS CTS Man in `drunken stupor', court hears Senior Magistrate Will Francis yesterday granted a 26-year-old Warwick man, who was found in a drunken stupor in a public place, a 12-month conditional discharge.
Derek Furbert, Jr., of Camp Road, admitted that he was found in a "drunken stupor'' outside the Mermaid Beach Club on South Road, Warwick, at around 7.55 a.m. on October 12.

When the officers attempted to question Furbert, he was too drunk to answer them coherently, added Sgt. Taylor.
Furbert was subsequently arrested and detained at Hamilton Police Station before being bailed to appear yesterday in Magistrates' Court.
Mr. Francis asked Furbert how he came to be in "such a disgusting state''.
Furbert replied: "I was waiting for a lift, your Honour.'' Mr. Francis ordered Furbert to obey the requirements of a conditional discharge for the next 12 months.
