And Police are appealing for witnesses to the two-vehicle accident to come forward.

The accident occurred around 1.30 p.m. on Monday on South Road in Devonshire, just west of Collector's Hill.

The Hamilton Parish woman was believed to have been driving west along South Road in her Suzuki car when the collision, with a Daihatsu driven by a 63-year-old Paget woman, occurred.

The older woman received serious head injuries, broken kneecaps, and a broken sternum.

Last night she was in critical condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

The other driver suffered a laceration to her knee.
