man on Cedar Avenue on Tuesday night.

The 36-year old woman was walking alone past Beacon House when her attacker pounced around 10 p.m. He accused her of stealing money from him, then began to beat her.

The woman received facial injuries as well as bruising and swelling to her neck and chest.

She was eventually rescued by a passing Police patrol car and was immediately rushed to hospital. She was released yesterday morning.

A Police spokeswoman said inquiries into the attack were continuing.

In a separate incident, a Sandys man was assaulted on Hook n' Ladder Lane in Somerset at 2 a.m. yesterday.

Police found the man semiconscious, lying in a pool of blood with a towel wrapped around his head.

He was given 20 stitches to a wound and was treated for a deep cut above his eye by doctors at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

But he was thought to be getting better last night and he was due to be discharged from hospital.
