Police spokeswoman Evelyn James Barnett said the victim -- a 40-year-old Smith's Parish woman -- was believed to be a relative of a MarketPlace employee.
"The woman sustained a serious injury to her arm and was rushed to hospital where she was undergoing emergency care.'' The accident occurred at about 9.30 p.m. in the bakery area of the MarketPlace, said Ms James Barnett. It is understood the woman's arm was caught in bakery machinery.
A MarketPlace manager joined Police at the scene last night and the Government safety officer had been called.
