Wooller called to Bar
inside the courtroom.
Ms Karen Wooller, 29, prefers the "eccentricities'' of Bermudian property law to the cut and thrust of litigation.
After graduating from the Bermuda High School in 1983, Ms Wooller went on to Queen's University in Canada where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in History.
She continued her education at Bristol University and graduated with her bachelor of laws degree in 1990.
After a year at the College of Law in York, England where she passed her law society finals on her first attempt, she articled for two years at a law firm in Leeds.
There she gained experience in pensions, probate, trusts, conveyancing, corporate law and litigation.
Mr. John Barritt, who introduced Ms Wooller to the court, said that Appleby, Spurling and Kempe were pleased to welcome her to the firm, although he said she would not be before the courts with any frequency.
Bermuda Bar Council president Mr. John Cooper and Mr. Philip Storr on behalf of the Attorney General's chambers also welcomed Ms Wooller.
"I would like to thank you for admitting me,'' Ms Wooller said in her first address before Chief Justice the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward.
"I feel both fortunate and happy for all those who have made this possible.'' Additionally, she thanked Mr. Barritt for his mentoring and her colleagues and her parents Victor and Hella Wooller for their financial and moral support.
