Youth Counselling Service moves into new offices
The Bermuda Youth Counselling Service recently moved into their new headquarters on 127 Front Street (Fagan's Alley).
Programme Director Eudora Browne-Zuill told The Royal Gazette that as a result of their June 1 move the agency could focus on becoming fully staffed.
"I'm really very excited about being in the new facility and getting the new staff on board,'' Mrs. Brown-Zuill said. "It has been a long road and we are now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
"We have workmen putting the final touches on the place,'' she added. "They should be completed by the end of next week.'' The mother-of-two also revealed that a new therapist was hired earlier this month and that a second would be joining the ranks very soon.
"As of June 1 we hired a therapist and we are in the process of hiring a second to begin in July,'' she said. "We will soon be in a position to meet the needs of the community.'' But since the organisation's inception in January of this year, Bermuda Youth Counselling Services has advised a number of young people.
"So far I have seen about 30 clients,'' she said. "And once all of our staff are in place we will be able to serve more.'' The free Government drug counselling agency is an outpatient service aimed at helping young people who are at high risk for experimenting with drugs or alcohol. The agency serves those between the ages of 10 and 24 years.
When the organisation was formed Mrs. Browne-Zuill worked out of the offices of the National Drug Commission.
"In February I moved to the Salvation Army Citadel,'' she said. "My administrative assistant and I worked there until this month's move.'' GETTING SETTLED -- Bermuda Youth Counselling Services programme director Eudora Browne-Zuill gets settled in the new Front Street home of the agency.
