Contract worker beaten, robbed in St. George's
A 41-year-old South African national was beaten and robbed of his wallet in St. George's.
The victim, believed to be a contract worker, sustained bruising to his body, but was not admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the incident unfolded around 12.15 a.m. on Saturday.
A Police spokesman said the victim was riding his cycle along Suffering Lane near the junction with Khyber Pass when he saw a man, who appeared to be stranded.
The man, who was standing beside a motorcycle in the middle of the road, signalled for the victim to stop; when the victim fell from his cycle.
The man, described as approximately 5'10" tall of stocky build with brown eyes, sideburns and a beard attacked the victim by punching him about the body. He then made good his escape with the victim's wallet.
Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information To contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.
Warwick man stabbed outside Ice Queen
A 27-year-old Warwick man was stabbed multiple times yesterday while trying to stop a fight outside Ice Queen in Paget.
According to a Police spokesperson, the man received stab wounds to his left ear, neck, back and left leg and needed to be taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
His injuries were not believed to be life threatening last night and a hospital spokesperson confirmed the Warwick man was in stable condition on a general ward.
The incident occurred before 4 a.m. yesterday when the victim saw a male friend being attacked by a group of young men. He stepped in, in an attempt to help his friend, when he was assaulted by some members of the same group.
The suspects were described as two brown-skinned males wearing blue jeans.
Inquiries into this incident are still underway. However Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Two vehicles damaged in collision
A collision between a motorcycle and a van on Wednesday resulted in two damaged vehicles, but no one was hospitalised.
According to a Police spokesman, the accident occurred at around 2.30 p.m. on Old Military Road in Devonshire. The spokesman said: "It appears the motorcycle was travelling east and the van was travelling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided.
"The rider of the motorcycle, a 50-year-old Pembroke man was apparently not injured, but the pillion passenger, a 44-year-old Devonshire woman, received a cut to the right side of her face and complained of pain to her side.
"Despite her injuries, she declined medical attention."
The driver of the van, a 32-year-old Hamilton Parish woman was not injured in the crash, but both the van and the motorcycle suffered front-end damage.
