Club Med date

The date for this summer's implosion of Club Med has been set for August 25.

A public information session has also been set up for Wednesday next week to let St. George's residents know about safety arrangements in the light of fears over side-effects of the demolition on nearby homes and other buildings.

This meeting will take place at St. George's Dinghy and Sports Club, 24 Cut Road, from 7.30 until 9 p.m, when the demolition contractor will be on hand to answer questions.

Government is committed to handing over a clean site to developer Bazarian International on December 31 ahead of the creation of a multi-million dollar Park Hyatt hotel, residence complex and golf course.

The move will finally end a deadlock on the derelict facility which has been a source of frustration for St. George's residents since Club Med closed in 1988.

A meeting intended to be held today to update Government workers on contract negotiations has been cancelled. The meeting was to be held at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church hall but has postponed indefinitely.
