Woman driver fled scene of crash

A woman who crashed into a parked car on Front Street and then fled the scene was later found – intoxicated – at a late night fast food restaurant.

The 26-year-old Southampton woman was arrested in the parking lot of the Paget Ice Queen under suspicion of drunk driving. Officers patrolling Front Street were first alerted to the incident around 12.30 a.m. Saturday after a member of the public stopped them to report seeing the hit and run.

According to Police the woman was heading east along Front Street when she collided with a parked car near the junction with Parliament Street.

The woman allegedly fled the scene before she was found, with her vehicle, in the parking lot of the Paget Ice Queen.

She was detained by Police after she failed a alco-analyser test. The test measures the level of alcohol in an individual's blood. To pass the test in Bermuda one must have less than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. Both vehicles were moderately damaged in the hit-and-run and Police inquires are currently underway.
