Island's Washington, DC office launches website
Bermuda's Washington DC office now has two employees and a website.
The site, www.dcoffice.gov.bm, will provide information on the Island and promote the agenda of the government.
The facility was officially opened in September 2009 to coincide with Government's attendance at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Weekend in DC but its director, Omar McIntosh, was not hired until June.
Mr. McIntosh — a civil engineering graduate with 15 years' experience in the commercial construction industry — is responsible for the office's strategic plan, as well as developing partnerships with US corporations and managing relationships with decision makers in the US capital.
He said of the website: "We intend to utilise technology to the greatest extent possible to expand our reach and keep the citizens that we serve informed of Bermuda's operations in the US at all times.
"For many, our new website will be their introduction to the Government of Bermuda and hence it has been meticulously designed. We encourage the public to visit often and be a part of the exciting developments of Bermuda's work in the US."
In addition to Mr. McIntosh the office also employs a receptionist.
