Man denies sex assault on daughter
A man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday facing allegations of sexual assault against his daughter.
The Crown read allegations that on May 26 and June 11 the man committed two counts of sexual assault by touching his daughter's buttocks.
The 46-year-old denied the charges and will appear back in court on October 15 for his trial. He was released on $5,000 bail and forbidden to have contact with his daughter.
Man denies gun charge
A man has appeared in court charged with importing a semi-automatic weapon, ammunition and drugs.
David Brangman is accused of importing a 40 calibre Smith and Wesson semi-automatic firearm into St. George's on December 18, 2002, without a licence. He is also charged with importing a magazine clip, eight Smith and Wesson bullets and a quantity of cannabis.
Brangman did not enter a plea at Magistrates' Court yesterday. He was granted bail and will face trial at the Supreme Court on July 1.
Senator loses wage judgement
Government Senator Walton Brown failed to appear in court yesterday to hear a claim that his MediaCom company owes a former employee more than $10,500.
Magistrate Tyrone Chin gave judgment in favour of Christen Pears, former editor of the Bermuda Network News website, which is owned by MediaCom, in Sen. Brown's absence.
The Royal Gazette revealed yesterday that Ms Pears claims she is owed the cash in unpaid wages, health bills and other expenses. The 32-year-old has now left the Island to move to Australia.
Driver injured in road crash
A Paget man was involved in a single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury early yesterday morning.
Around 3.30 a.m. Police attended the reported single vehicle collision on South Road in Warwick near the junction of Rocklands Road.
It appeared that the car was travelling east on South Road when the driver, age 20, lost control and collided with an embankment.
The man sustained bruising to his chest and left knee and the car received extensive front-end damage.
