Breaking News: Police name road death victim
A 29-year-old Southampton man died after crashing his motorcycle into the sidewalk in the early hours of this morning.
The victim, named by Police as Kevin Mooney, suffered head injuries as he fell off the vehicle in Middle Road, Warwick, near its junction with Longford Road, at about 12.50 a.m. No other vehicles were involved, according to Police.
Mr. Mooney, the son of former Chief Inspector Charles Mooney, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, making him the second person to die on Bermuda’s roads in 2009.
A Police spokesman said: "It appears that Mr. Mooney was riding a motorcycle traveling west on Middle Road when he lost control, collided with the sidewalk and fell off the cycle. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to former Chief Inspector Charles Mooney, his family and the friends of Kevin Mooney on his untimely passing."
