CADA extends condolences to road accident victim's family
CADA yesterday extended condolences to the family of the Island's latest road fatality, Earlston Smith.
The 31-year-old died after he lost control of his motorcycle at the junction of Crow Lane and Corkscrew Hill around 4 a.m. on Monday.
CADA chairman, Anthony Santucci said: "It is with a heavy heart that I speak about this latest road fatality. CADA would like to extend our sincere condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Earlston Kavon Bailey Smith.
"This is the tenth road fatality this year. While we don't yet know the cause of this particular tragedy, statistics show that seven out of ten deaths that occur on Bermuda's roads involve alcohol or drugs."
He continued: "Our role at CADA is to encourage responsible alcohol behaviour and to continuously remind the public that drinking and driving kills.
"There is no simpler way to say it. If you drink and drive there is an increased likelihood you will die or you will kill someone."
Mr. Santucci added: "As I stated, we don't yet know the cause of this particular fatality, but as a community we are losing too many people on our roads.
"If you are going to consume alcohol, put a plan in place to get home safely. Always use [a] bus, cab, or designated driver."
