CADA's free late-night ride home for drinkers is to continue

Anthony Santucci

A free late-night transportation which has serviced more than 1,000 people in the past year is to continue.

Sponsor Burrows Lightbourn Limited is behind the Let Us Drive programme operated by CADA.

The service provides 36 free taxi rides from outside the LOM building on Reid Street between 3.15 a.m. and 3.45 a.m. on Fridays, to discourage people from drink driving.

Burrows Lightbourn's managing director Richard Hartley said: "In the last 12 months, this service has taken home more than 1,600 people. We believe it is truly helping to reduce drinking and driving and as there is no late-night public transportation available, services like this are needed."

CADA Chairman Anthony Santucci thanked the company for their continued involvement in the programme.

"We are extremely pleased they will continue to be 'silver supporting sponsor' of the programme," said Mr. Santucci. "Their commitment to reducing drinking and driving is evident and to be applauded."
