Capital G forms social services think tank

Donors and family service providers have been brought together by Capital G to form a think tank to help Bermuda's vital social services.

The meetings are intended to help find common ground where the involved groups could combine their efforts and work together.

Included in the first meeting of the Donor Think Tank were representatives from Child and Family Services, the Family Centre, the Cross Ministry Intervention Team and the Adult Education School.

In total, 24 donors and service providers attended the July 8 meeting.

Among the urgent topics discussed were employer assistance, parental mentoring, professional etiquette for young people and early childhood literacy.

Director of Development and Community Education Peter Carey said: "Adult Education Services and the Cross Ministry Intervention Team are seeing the same children and families that come to the Family Centre at different stages in their lives.

"We are all working together to help people who are hurting make positive and lasting change."

Michael DeCouto, senior vice president of marketing at Capital G, said: "The launch of the Donor Think Tank project is a natural extension of our Giving Back charitable donations programme."

The second meeting of the think tank will be held in September.
