Two weeks ago today, Damion Wayne Smith and Kenneth Trevor Boyles were discharged by Magistrate Edward King after two key witnesses refused to testify.

It was alleged that the men were at the Anchorage Bar on North Shore on February 17, when they were serving jail sentences.

Smith, 29, is nearing the end of a 12-year sentence for the 1994 death of Reginald Chesterfield Wilson.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter after he was originally charged with murder.

Mr. Wilson's hacked and beaten body was found after an eight-day search on February 22, 1994. A $10,000 reward was issued before a tip to Police led to arrests of three men.

Smith has been in custody, either on remand awaiting trial or in prison, since September, 1994, and his time in custody was included in his sentence.
