Dennis Pamplin back in court next Friday
The estranged husband of United Bermuda Party MP Patricia Gordon-Pamplin — who is charged with possession of more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana -will appear in court on October 24 for his pretrial report.
Dennis Pamplin — who lives apart from his wife, the Shadow Minister of Works and Engineering – was detained along with Brian Henry on July 15.
On September 26 a grand jury indicted Pamplin on two drug-related charges and indicated that should he be convicted he will be required to forfeit to the United States all property derived from any proceeds of the drugs.
According to the indictment from about 2006 until about July 15 of this year Pamplin along with others, knowingly and unlawfully distributed more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana.
In relation to this offence, Pamplin was also charged that with co-conspirators, met in the Bronx, New York to falsify invoices used to ship the same marijuana.
The second count alleges that on or about July 15 in the Southern District of New York Pamplin and co-conspirators not named in the indictment, possessed, with intent to distribute, 318 kilograms of marijuana.
Along with five residences that Pamplin will have to relinquish to the United States, he will also have to supply a sum in US currency representing the amount of all proceeds obtained from the controlled substance offences, according to the indictment.
Pamplin's case will now be heard in front of a jury following the pretrial reports which will begin on October 24 in front of Judge Marrero in the Southern District of New York.
