Dennis Rahiim Watson to speak tonight
Celebrated Bermudian motivational speaker Dennis Rahiim Watson is returning to the Island to speak at the second People Empowerment Culture Fest tonight.
Mr. Watson, who had been honoured for his speeches motivating young people away from crime, is the CEO and President of the National Youth and Gang Violence Task Force.
Andre Bassett, Chief Administrative Officer for the Uptown Market Association, said that the organisation felt that Mr. Watson was the right speaker to tackle the issues facing the youth in this country.
"We were looking for someone with prominence and someone who could speak to the community," said Mr. Bassett. "He is an appropriate person to speak to the youth, and to older members of the community."
Mr. Bassett believes that Mr. Watson's speech will encourage and help empower the community, keeping with the theme of the event.
Along with Mr. Watson, the event will feature local talent such as Gina Spence Productions, Places Gombeys and Michelle "Wires" Trott.
Events begin at 7 p.m. and are expected to run until around 10 p.m.
