Duke of Edinburgh participants take to the links Wednesday

Students will take to the fairway this week to raise funds for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Bermuda.

Secondary school students will join teams from the business community as they follow in the footsteps of the world's top golfers at the Mid Ocean Club.

Fresh from last week's PGA Grand Slam of Golf tournament, the Tucker's Town course will form the backdrop for the 2nd Annual Golf Challenge.

Bermuda Dukers (students participating in the Award programme) from CedarBridge Academy, the Berkeley Institute, Warwick Academy, Saltus and BHS will play with corporate teams from ACE, Argo Group, Butterfield & Vallis, Chevron, Colonial, CIG Re, Flagstone Re, IAS, Partner Re, Renaissance Re, and Tokio Millennium.

The sponsors include: the Ministry of Environment and Sports; Trustees of the Award; Aspen; Conyers Dill & Pearman; Max Capital; XL Foundation; Belco; BF & M; Capital G; Catlin Insurance; CNA Butterfield Insurance; MCS; Oil Insurance; Orbis; and Willis.

The tournament, to be held this Wednesday, is being managed by To-A-Tee Bermuda and an array of prizes are on offer in competitions such as the JetBlue Challenge and Closest to the Pin. Governor Sir Richard Gozney, official Patron of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Bermuda, will present the prizes. There are still a few spaces left for anyone interested in joining a team.
