Electoral boundaries debate is delayed
Debate on the Boundaries Report was pushed back by Premier Paula Cox after it was decided to go ahead with PACE legislation.
The 2009/2010 Boundaries commission report was expected to be discussed in the House of Assembly yesterday, but the Premier instead asked for it to be carried over until next week.
Asked why the discussion was carried over, the Press Secretary for the Premier said: "It had been previously decided that two items would be placed today, and as Minister Michael Scott opted to proceed with PACE, the Boundaries order was deferred by a week."
When passed the order will directly affect a number of Bermudian voters, moving them from one constituency to another as the borders are redrawn to put a roughly equal number of voters in each seat.
The report was initially tabled by former Premier Ewart Brown in the early summer, but was not discussed before the end of the last legislative period.
