Ball claimed last night.

The Bermuda Public Service Association General Secretary said some bosses were flouting some of the basic tenets of the Employers' Act and appealed for employers to use common sense.

He said his union had been hit with a rise in complaints about constructive dismissal and giving employees proper notice.

"More of these issues are being faced by us, traditionally they were dealt with in a socially fair manner,'' said Mr. Ball.

"We are now dealing with issues at an alarming rate, there's no sense, rhyme or reason.

"This union is facing challenges like never before from some employers.

"I just think some people don't know what it means to have power and use it correctly.'' Mr. Ball's union is currently in negotiations with the Bermuda College, The Bermuda Hospitals' Board and the Government over new contracts, but he denied he was referring to these employers.

"I couldn't name them. Those for whom the shoe doesn't fit won't buy into what I am saying.''
