Bermuda's End-to-End Charitable Trust has donated $15,000 to help the Hands of Love organisation continue its work through the Christmas season.

The Trust raises money through the annual Caitlin End-to-End, which is supported by local sponsors. More than 2,500 people now take part in the event.

Hands of Love, which was founded by Fern Wade, helps thousands of Bermudians by offering them food and clothing.

Anne Mello, the Trust's chairwoman, said with the economic crisis, her organisation wanted to ensure Hands of Love's important work could continue.

She said: ""We have long admired the work of Hands of Love and its founder Fern Wade, whose organisation has been delivering food and clothing to people in need since 1990.

"Given the current economic downturn, we felt it was important to make a special effort to support those most in need over the coming Christmas season."
