Fun day for families at Girlguiding fair
Parents and children are invited to attend Girlguiding Bermuda's annual fair today to help raise funds for new projects.
The FUNd Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St Paul's Christian Education Centre, in Paget, will be officially opened by Lady Gozney and supported by Hamilton Town Crier Ed Christopher.
This year the organisation is raising funds for a disabled access to the guide hut at Bermuda Guiding headquarters, and for eight Bermudian guides to attend the Girlguiding Centennial celebrations in 2010, in England.
Professional manicures will be offered to parents as children play on the fun castles, get their face painted, visit the story telling booth or enjoy a host of games.
More than 30 prizes will be raffled, including a new Blackberry Pearl, designer watches and a $1,000 travel voucher. The Boy Scouts will also hold a car wash to raise funds for operational expenses.
Island Commissioner of Girlguiding Bermuda, Denise Woodhouse said: "The FUNd Fair is a great way for families to enjoy a day out.
"The children will have lots of fun activities to keep them occupied and we've added a few perks for the parents to enjoy this year also.
"Girlguiding is an excellent way for our youth to build character and I am grateful to the team who has made a great effort to make this event happen."
Girls and young women interested in becoming involved with Girlguiding Bermuda, either as a Brownie or a Leader, should contact Carol Hall on 292-0675 or send an e-mail to this address: girlguides@northrock.bm.
