Girl, 9, hurt in motorcycle accident

A nine-year-old was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road over the weekend.The girl was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for pains to her back, and cuts to her right elbow and ankle.The child was hit around 6.50 p.m. as she collected a ball which had travelled onto Berkeley Road in Pembroke.

A nine-year-old was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road over the weekend.

The girl was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for pains to her back, and cuts to her right elbow and ankle.

The child was hit around 6.50 p.m. as she collected a ball which had travelled onto Berkeley Road in Pembroke.

According to Police, a car had stopped to allow the girl to cross the road safely.

"However, when the girl attempted to cross the road again after retrieving the ball, she was struck by a motorcycle travelling north," a spokesperson said.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 33-year-old Sandys man, was not injured.

In total, there were 18 reported traffic accidents over the weekend, seven of which resulted in injury.

There were also seven arrests for suspicion of driving while impaired, and seven vehicles reported stolen.

• Police are still seeking witnesses to the crash that took the life of Omar Sutton on Saturday morning.

Mr. Sutton died following a collision with a Belco truck on Middle Road in Paget, near the junction with Valley Road.
