Hotel bomb threat a hoax
The Fairmont Southampton Resort received and e-mail of a bomb threat yesterday morning, however after investigation the threat was determined to be a hoax.
Managing director of the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Bermuda, Norm Mastalir said: "This morning, an anonymous e-mail was received in one of our general e-mail boxes suggesting a bomb threat against the hotel.
"Through immediate contact with our Corporate Crisis Management Team, the threat was determined to be a hoax, which has targeted multiple hotels internationally.
"As a safety precaution, our local Crisis Management Plan was immediately engaged. Through the prompt action of The Fairmont Southampton team, and with the direct on-site involvement of the Bermuda Police Service, a thorough search of the hotel was conducted and the threat was determined to be false."
He added: "We will continue to liaise with the Bermuda Police Service in its ongoing investigation. Similar police investigations are also ongoing in other jurisdictions where the identical threat was received."
