Householders told not to use airport dump

A spokesperson said the airport dump was not for disposing of household garbage, but for the disposal of metals, tyres, fibreglass, electrical appliances, etc.

"Members of the public are urged to refer to the information leaflet, `What Waste Goes Where' which was distributed to all households,'' the spokesperson said.

Persons wishing a copy, can collect one from the Waste Management Section of the Ministry, 3rd Floor, Global House on Church Street.

The Ministry also reminded the public that due to the Christmas holiday, household garbage normally collected on Thursday will be collected on Saturday, December 27.

Garbage should be placed out for collection by 7:30 a.m. that day.

Household trash will be collected as usual on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26.

And residents are asked to hold their recyclables until the following Friday, January 2, 1998. The Tynes Bay Public Drop-Off will be open on Christmas Day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
