Indian billionaire's yacht is seen in St. George's
A luxury yacht owed by an Indian billionaire visited Bermuda for a few days this week on its way to Europe.
Indian Empress is one of the largest yachts in the world, measuring 311 feet eight inches or 95 metres, according to online encyclopaedia Wikipedia.
She is owned by Vijay Mallya, an Indian businessman and former national parliament MP.
Dr. Mallya has an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion and is the chairman of the United Breweries Group and Kingfisher Airlines.
He also owns the Formula One team Force India, the Indian Premier League cricket team Bangalore Royal Challengers, and the I-League team East Bengal FC.
Dr. Mallya receives substantial press coverage because of his lavish parties, villas, and automobiles.
Indian Empress was in St. George's for five days after a trip to the Caribbean, before leaving on Monday.
The luxury yacht was launched in 2000 and was previously owned by a member of the Qatar Royal Family.
She regularly cruises around the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
