Infant car seats recalled
Some infant car seats have been recalled after causing lacerations, scratches and choking risks, Government revealed yesterday.
US-based company Britax Child Safety Inc. has recalled more than 19,000 of its Chaperone Infant Car Seats sold in North America.
The recall was also issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
It appears the chest clips were not properly constructed by the manufacturer, increasing the likelihood of it snapping once the infant was secured in the seat.
The recall includes model numbers E9L69N9 (Moonstone), E9L69P2 (Red Mill), E9L69P3 (Savannah) and E9L69P5 (Cowmooflage), produced between April 2009 and May 2010.
The white serial label with the seat's serial number, model number, and manufacture date can be found on the underside of the car seat.
Owners should immediately stop using the car seat and contact the store where they purchased the item.
If the car seat was bought overseas, buyers can contact Britax for a free repair kit, which includes a replacement chest clip. Registered owners should have already been contacted directly by the company.
