Details on how Dame Lois Browne Evans will be honoured during this year's National Heroes Day will be released shortly.

Minister of Culture Neletha Butterfield said Dame Lois will continue to be celebrated and remembered on each and every National Heroes Day.

Minister Butterfield explained that the list of National Heroes will eventually grow as the names of deserving individuals are added.

Therefore, while National Heroes Day this year will continue to honour the only current recipient, Dame Lois, when and as other persons are added, they will be collectively and appropriately honoured each year on National Heroes Day.

She added the National Hero designation is a lifetime honour that is bestowed. Once a person is named as a National Hero, he or she will be a National Hero forever.

Minister Butterfield said within the next few weeks the public will be informed of how the day will be officially celebrated.
