A gang of bikers chased after a 23-year-old woman motorcyclist in an apparent attempt to force her off the road.

The woman was riding along East Broadway, away from Hamilton, when two bikes began following her and then overtook her on Friday, at about 6 p.m.

She said the pillion passengers on each bike then kept looking back at her before four more bikes joined the pursuit as she drove east along Middle Road.

The gang aimed inappropriate remarks at her, with some of them trying to force her off the road, according to the complainant's mother, who asked not to be identified.

The incident finished when she reached Whitney Institute and more traffic built up on the road.

The young woman, who did not recognise any of the suspects, was said to be shaken up but not injured.
