Man arrested after chain is snatched from 55-year-old late at night
A man was arrested after a chain-snatching incident in Pembroke in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Police said a 55-year-old man was sitting in a car on St. Monica's Road at about 2 a.m. when a robber reached inside the vehicle and snatched a gold chain and pendant from around his neck.
There was a struggle between the two men before the assailant approached a 33-year-old woman and kicked her in the side.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said: "The suspect then picked up a blunt object and used it to damage the car's front windshield and rear windows.
"At this point several area residents got involved and the suspect attempted to make good his escape on foot towards Friswells Hill."
Police arrived at the scene and gave chase. A 22-year-old Warwick man was arrested in connection with the incident and the gold chain and pendant were recovered, as was the blunt object.
