A man suffered cuts to his arm and head at the hands of a blade-wielding assailant in Sommersall Road, Smith's, on Saturday.

Detailing the incident, a Police spokesman said the 23-year-old victim was walking down the road at around 9.45 p.m when he was attacked by "an unknown young man" armed with a bladed article.

The attacker and another man escaped on a motorcycle. The victim, from Smith's, was released from hospital after treatment later on Saturday night.

The main suspect is described as dark-skinned, around 5 ft 11 ins tall, of medium build, weighing around 140 pounds. He wore a grey jacket and black pants, and is believed to be around 21 years old.

The other suspect wore a dark-coloured jacket and was shorter than the main suspect.
